DraftKings fantasy golf picks: BMW Championship 2015

After a week off following the Monday finish of the Deutsche Bank Championship, the PGA Tour continues the FedEx Cup playoffs this week with the BMW Championship. The BMW Championship is the second-to-last week of the PGA season, and it provides fantasy golf players with an elite field to choose from as golfers try to lock in their spot at the TOUR Championship next week. It’s also one of the last week’s for a while with some of the big names available for our fantasy golf picks, so make sure to get your DraftKings lineup locked in before the field tees off on Thursday morning at Conway Farms Golf Club.

It seems like a while ago, but it was only last Monday that Rickie Fowler claimed a big win at the Deutsche Bank Championship and moved into the top five of the FedEx Cup playoff race headed to the BMW Championship. The BMW features the top 70 players in the FedEx Cup race before next week’s cut down to just the top 30. One thing to remember about the format of this week’s event is that there is no cut, so all 70 players should play all four rounds barring injury or withdrawal. Another important factor to remember this week is that the BMW Championship is a rotational event which changes courses alternating between courses around the Chicago area and other courses around the country. Good history at the event is helpful, but only the 2013 BMW Championship actually was held at the same course. As you make your picks, focus on the 2013 results even more than last year’s leaderboard and place lots of stock in current form as well. In 2013, Zach Johnson won the event with a closing-round 65 to claim a two-stroke victory over Nick Watney. Jim Furyk, Jason Day, and Hunter Mahan also finished in the top five in that tournament and will look to rekindle that success this week as they return to Conway Farms. Furyk is especially notable since he shot a memorable 59 in the second round of the event. The course itself is a par-71 which was built out of the farmland on the edge of Chicago’s North Shore. It’s actually in Lake Forest, Illinois, and if you want a comprehensive hole-by-hole breakdown, check out the course’s website which includes flyovers and pictures of every hole. As I do each week, I’ve separated my fantasy golf picks for this week’s tournament into price ranges based on the DraftKings salaries assigned to each player. I divide the options into five-figure studs with salaries over 10,000, stars in the 8,000 to 10,000 range, solid performers between 7,000 and 8,000, and finally some sleeper options who are 7,000 or less but still have a shot to produce points.

On the final slide of this post is my personal DraftKings Fantasy Golf Picks lineup for this week. Make sure to check back each week for my fantasy golf picks for that week’s event for whenever DraftKings has a fantasy golf contest. If anything changes in the field or in my lineup before tee time on Thursday, I’ll update my lineup on our FansidedFantasy Twitter feed.
